Frequently Asked Questions

If I try ecotherapy, does that mean every session needs to be outside?

Not at all! We can alternate between ecotherapy and virtual sessions, you can choose ecotherapy during the warmer months and virtual during the cooler months, or try a one-off ecotherapy session even if most of our work has been virtual to date. Together, we’ll find a balance that feels good for you.

What if the weather is terrible on the day of my session?

I hear you! When the forest is your office, Mother Nature can throw a lot at you. If you’re not feeling up for a walk on a given day, I ask for a minimum of 90 minutes notice to reschedule an ecotherapy session to virtual. In addition, I will reschedule to virtual in the event of following weather conditions:

  • Wind speed of 35 km/h or higher

  • Wind gusts of 60 km/h or higher

  • Temperatures below -20 degrees Celsius (before windchill)

  • Hazardous trail conditions (e.g., extreme iciness on the trails, other conditions that could pose a safety risk)

What should I bring for an ecotherapy session?

Yourself of course! You may also want to consider the following:

  • Close-toed, comfortable shoes for walking

  • Hot weather: Comfortable clothing, suncreen hat, water bottle, insect repellent

  • Cold weather: Comfortable clothing, warm gear (gloves, hat, scarf, boots), sunscreen, water bottle

  • Transitional weather: Lots of layers!!!

Do we have to roll/walk the whole time?

Not at all! Both program options have benches at the beginning and midpoint of the route. We can sit for part or all of a session. It’s up to you!
